Dear Folks -
Though my teachings will still reflect that we are living in the gap between the “no-longer” and the “not-yet,” I introduced this week a new theme for going forward -
“It’s About Time.”
Wise and useful spiritual work is always being present, paying attention to the now, showing up. What does it mean in this time and place to be a person of faith.
It is also time that we brought our religious doctrines and spiritual understandings in the the present era rather than allow them to languish in some pre-Copernican darkness.
The central theme of the teaching of Jesus is something he referred to as “the kingdom of God.” Sadly, the way it has been taught most people have come to think of this “kingdom” to be something one might enter after death or must strive to attain or created in this world. Jesus taught none of this. The kingdom of God is not a place we get to. It is a place we come from. The spiritual journey is one we make with Divine Presence, not to Divine Presence.
This is a very brief summary of the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week.
