Where Do You Live?

Dear Folks -

In the talks I have been offering recently in Ordinary Life I have been constructing a crucible in which future talks can be placed to do what I hope will be their transforming work. The crucible is built out of three questions: Who do you say that I am? Who is the you who answers this question? And, where do you live?

The field of cosmology is teaching us that we do not live as fixed beings in a fixed cosmos. Everything is changing. One phrase that I am reading over and over in my effort to understand what cosmology is teaching us is, “We are the first generation in the history of the world to . . .” and then follows some startling new revelation. Authentic spiritual work involves being fully involved in this evolving process. One example of one of these insights is that we are the universe becoming aware of itself. Mystics have claimed this for ages. Now, science is confirming it. In this talk I try to enumerate some of the consequences of this.

That is a very brief summary of the talk offered in Ordinary Life this week. This is another one of those talks where I personally think the audio version is better than the written one.

I called the talk -

“Where Do You Live?”
