Dear Folks -
The past number of Ordinary Life talks are intended to point us in the direction of what I spoke about this week - Deep Healing. Deep healing I liken to getting a major system upgrade for your computer. We are not simply to try harder to do better. Our religious practices and spiritual work are to lead in the direction of our being transformed persons.

Dear Folks -
I have given myself the task of attempting to describe what it means "to be happy" by looking at the Beatitudes given by Jesus. This talk focuses on the last of the Beatitudes and the one that is the most difficult for us to hear. It is a trait of the human being - whether liberal or conservative - to protect what one considers important. This trait is something to be away of in doing our spiritual work because if we aren't, it can lure us into a false sense of security about the truth.

Here is a summary of the talk I gave in Ordinary Life this week.
I have given myself the task of attempting to describe what it means "to be happy" by looking at the Beatitudes given by Jesus. This talk focuses on this beatitude:
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God.
In this talk I contend that it is our very desire for security that make us insecure. Developing the qualities that would lead us to be true "peace makers" is the only form of true security there is on this planet. I use the life of St. Francis to illustrate this point.

I have missed our gatherings and am eager to be back with you.
I want to pick up on where we left off – namely, reflecting on the deeper meaning of our "moral obligation to be happy." We've been doing that by looking at some sayings of Jesus that are called The Beatitudes. The line we look at this week is both the most promising and the most difficult of all his sayings:
Happy are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
Are you pure in heart? Me neither. So how can we deal with this? What does it mean? I'm calling what I want to talk with you about this week
A Glimpse of Glory
And, who knows, since it is a spiritual teacher's task to mess with people's minds, there might even be a bit of a magical happening at the beginning.
