Dear Folks -

I began this week’s time in Ordinary Life with a period of silence, acknowledging the shooting in the church in Texas last Sunday. And, also with a plea for people to watch, if you have not done so, the documentary, “The Mask You Live In.” (Click here for more information.)

Then, based on a teaching from The Gospel of Thomas, I spoke about how the goals of experiencing and expressing peace, love and joy, require that we know about both the “ego” and the “Self” and do the work to have an “enlightened ego” so that we can be willing to allow the Self to become what it is, our true identity. One practical application of our religious and spiritual work is that we live in the world with growing patience and less reactivity. I used an image I got from Jim Finley, though I put it in my own words, about our being to open to develop the willingness and courage to enter the “dark night of the soul.” That is a brief summary of the talk.

If you are reading this, I want you to know how grateful I am for and to you.

Be well and much love,
