Dear Folks -

I called the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week -

What Game Are We Playing and What Are The Rules?

One of my first spiritual teachers said, “Life is a game. The first rule of this game is - this is not a game?” In this talk I offer numerous examples to show that, at least in my opinion, American culture has been knocked far off the path of believing and behaving in ways that ultimately serve the common good. If we keep going in the direction we are going, the future looks bleak. As one philosopher I quoted said, “When small men begin to cast big shadows, the sun is about to set.” There is a huge difference between beliefs and trust. If beliefs keep us from walking in trust, they are a hindrance to the spiritual life. Embracing unitive mind means the loss of certitude. When we live lives that go contrary to what we know is true and right we become alienated from our true Selves and from others. The rules of the game we are called to play are: Love God and love your neighbor.

That is a very brief summary of the talk I offered this week in Ordinary Life. As if often the case, I think the audio version is better than the text.

You can read or download the text from which I spoke, view the presentation slides, listen to the audio of the talk and/or watch the video of the talk using the links below.

If you are reading this, I want you to know how grateful I am for and to you.

Be well and much love,

Bill Kerley
