Dear Folks -
One of the realities of life is that things, living and inanimate, arise, endure and pass away. We can relate to this reality with anxiety or equanimity. Though we may have some influence over how and when things come to an end, we cannot stop the inevitability of the process. One of the ways some people try to control their anxiety about the end of things is to make predictions. For over two thousand years, perhaps longer, there is a record of individuals predicting “the end of the world.” I reference the history of some of this in the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week.
Worlds do come to an end in the sense of how we once viewed something or believed something passes away to be replaced by another and newer belief. If we do not remain open to the new, we become stagnant. In this talk I suggest that the process of being open to the revealing of new truth, being present to Presence and a commitment to on-going self-knowledge is a way of staying on a path that honors Truth. That’s a brief summary of the talk I offered.
