Summary for December 8, 2019

Dear Folks -

This is a gentle reminder that your last two opportunities to see the documentary “American Heretics” will be today, Tuesday, December 10th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The showings will be in room 204 of the Jones Building - the same building in which Ordinary Life meets.

Chris Newlin did an outstanding job this week in his presentation, “Moral Failings: Why Religion and Politics Are Tearing Us Apart.” There is no text of his talk. On the Ordinary Life website you will find the audio version of the presentation and a pdf of his presentation slides. The Jonathan Haidt TED talk he showed can be found on YouTube and is definitely worth the 17 minutes it takes to watch.

One of my “take aways” from this time with Chris has to do with how important are the words we use in talking to one another - especially in talking to those who have a viewpoint that is different from our own.

So, a HUGE shoutout from me to Chris Newlin for taking the time to be with us and to offer us an abundance of rich material to continue our journey forward.

If you are reading this, I want you to know how grateful I am for and to you.

Be well and much love,

Bill Kerley
