This week we continue the dialogue on taking the side of the peacekeepers. Don’t be fooled by the word peace. Taking this position requires strength and integrity and speaking truth to abusive power.

In the podcast we spend some time talking about my kids, being a mother of biracial children in a world that doesn’t always love them back. During that particular segment, you hear my kids, my hearts, in the background. I thought, at first, well shoot. I can’t edit that out. Then I thought, how perfect. I can’t edit that out.

Taking the side of peace, justice means taking a stand for their right to belong without fear. We must take a side against abusive power. Victor Frankl posed the question, “What does life expect from us?” Is it love? Participation? Compassion? These are life giving. Hate and evil are life taking. Which side do we want to be on?
