Dear Folks -
In his book, "When The Disciple Comes of Age" by Diarmuid O’Murchu writes:
"It has taken us two thousand years to catch up with Jesus - and we are still trying to catch up. I sincerely believe we will get there eventually, but first we must unravel and discard the barriers we have put in the way throughout the past two thousand years, and at the forefront is our perverse addiction to patriarchal, kinglike power. That more than anything else has screwed up not merely the promised liberation of Christianity but the liberative, empowering praxis at the heart of all the great world religions.”
Holly Hudley and I are spending time to deal in depth with the various wounds caused by patriarchy. This session, which we titled
The Feminine Face of Sacred Mystery
seeks to deal specifically with the wounds we all carry about ourselves and about our understanding of “God.” We talk about what happened to cause the religion about Jesus to go far astray and about the love required for our healing.
That is a very brief summary of what Holly and I talked about in Ordinary Life this week.
I am so grateful to our being able to continue to meet for Ordinary Life even if it is in a virtual setting. I miss seeing you face-to-face.
Holly Hudley and I will continue to co-teach and we will shape our conversations to fit and needs and concerns of our present context.
