Dear Folks -
There is a lot of anger being expressed in our country at the moment. Both Buddhism and Christianity have ways to understand what the roots of anger are and how to deal with it. Both Jesus and Buddha taught of the need for compassion in dealing with the reality of suffering. Both teach that compassion is our natural state. How and why do we fall away from this? In this talk Holly Hudley and I offering our understandings and interpretations of why we can so easily behave in unwise and un-useful ways. I offer a reinterpretation of the “doctrine of original sin” and Holly talks about the difference between reactive and creative anger. We must hold our anger close in a loving manner. This is what creates anger that is righteous and not self-righteous.
