Dear Folks -
We began Ordinary Life this week with my telling one of my very favorite Sufi teaching stories. The story is much like a dream in which each part and character convey meaning. In essence it says that what we are looking for we already have within us. Yet, it takes work and diligence to discover this and to craft the key that releases us into freedom and compassion.
This week we talked about the seventh of the Eight-fold Path in Buddhism - Right Mindfulness. Mindful living is not easy but it gets easier with practice. Holly Hudley talked about the obstacles to mindful living as well as the miracle of mindfulness. I talk about how one of the big blocks for many people in having a meditative or spiritual practice is objectivism.
We do our spiritual work for the well-being of all who are and all that is. We called the time -
Living With Hearts As Wide of the World
That is a very brief summary of our time in Ordinary Life this week.
You can find the text we had in front of us, the presentation slides and the audio version of the talk using the links below. The printed text contains much more content that we were able to offer in the live presentation.
Also, be aware that we have instituted a weekly podcast. It is called βIn Between.β You can access this through the Ordinary Life website.
