Dear Folks -
I remind you that Michael Morwood will be with us in a webinar Thursday evening, August, 27. In order to register for this free event, click here.
This week in Ordinary Life we began our tour through the teachings of Jesus as found in what is commonly called “The Sermon on the Mount.” We stole the title from a book by Marcus Borg -
Meeting Jesus Again For The First Time
I took an informal survey and found out that when most people hear the word “Jesus,” their first reaction is to have an image. So, we talked some about how images get shaped by the culture in which we live. Holly talked about both the apophatic and cataphatic ways of “doing theology.” I raise the question that I got from Michael Morwood - “How would Jesus himself like to be remembered?” And, how did it happen that somewhere along the way Christianity became something that one believed rather than what one does. What Jesus was is what our world needs - wisdom, trust, kinship, celebration, joy and integrity.
By the way, if you want to see the BBC video clip called “White Jesus,” you can find it by clicking here.
That is a very brief summary of our time in Ordinary Life this week.

Also, be aware that we have instituted a weekly podcast. It is called “In Between.” You can access this through the Ordinary Life website.
