Dear Folks -
I want to make you aware of an ongoing study/learning opportunity that begins this Wednesday evening. It is an ongoing study of the Book of Ecclesiastes. I will be serving as a faculty member, along with three other staff members - Karyn Richards-Kuan, Paul Richards-Kuan and Kate Flint. I believe that this time we are in is an excellent time to learn about and reflect on the teachings in this book from the Wisdom Literature tradition. It can help us live a more examined life. Two of the marks of a vital and vitalizing religion are awareness and maturity. Our current existential crisis as a nation is a result of ruptured social bonds. What did Jesus mean by "love your enemies"? And, how can we appropriate this teaching for our time? We borrow from the teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr. and an article in the Scientific American to help us understand not only this teaching but also our current crisis. We called the talk -
For God's Sake, And Ours, Grow Up!
