Meister Eckhart has a reflection on the conversion experience of Paul. “Paul rose from the ground and with eyes open saw nothing. Pay attention to the nothing Paul saw with open eyes. What Paul saw was the nothing that was God, he saw nothing but God, in all things he saw nothing but God, when he saw God, he saw all things as nothing. Which of these is true for you depends on how you look, not what you see.” We offer some understandings about what we know about Paul and his writings, the relevance of Paul for our own spiritual work and the possible meanings of this mystical teaching of Eckhart’s.
