Summary of Ordinary Life for January 16, 2022

Dear Ones -
This week in Ordinary Life I gave a talk I called -
Where Were We? Where Are We? Who Will We Be?
This is my third meditative reflection on the first healing story in the Gospel of John. Next week, we'll move on to the next one.
I begin by recalling the opening lines of Charles Dickens' book, "A Tale of Two Cities." It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. These lines are not only an apt description of the era that produced the Gospel of John but they are also fitting for us. John is a hopeful, positive, courageous affirmation that there is nothing that can extinguish the light given us by Jesus. John is an invitation to step into this kind of understanding of life and living even in the worst and most hopeless looking of times.
That’s a brief summary of the time in Ordinary Life this week.
