The inquiry for the day is, “What is the difference between a transcendent spirituality and an embodied spirituality?”
As a product of Western Christianity, I’ve been taught to devalue the body, sometimes even hate it, and see it as a vessel that gets me from this life to eternal life. But I don’t agree. My body has given me access to moments of transcendence…swimming with a whale shark, for example. Being born. Giving birth.
We are bodies. We don’t have bodies.
How do you experience an embodied spirituality? Or do you? How do you experience transcendence?
Thanks for listening!
