The title of the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week is -

Truth is Better Than Fiction, Learning to See in the Dark

The persistent and repeated core message of all wise and useful spiritual teaching is: Wake up. Pay attention. Be. Here. Now.

It is a message, an emphasis that we likely can’t hear too often because we live in a culture that is in a mass hypnotic trance. It takes constant diligence to see.

One of the reasons we become blind is that we accept fictions, inherited cultural messages or religious teachings, that simply aren’t “the truth.” Letting go of these can be frightening but the good news is that Truth is better than fiction.
