Dear Folks -

If we are going to construct a more viable future, we have to be able to deconstruct or let go of the past. We cannot let go of what we are not aware that we are holding. Or, when it comes to religion, what has a hold on us.

One of the ways I want to contribute to our liberation from the ego is to increase religious literacy. I am currently speaking to how “miracles” worked their way into the biblical story. I began this last week. This week I continued to talk about the “miracles” that are associated with “the law” and “the prophets” in the Hebrew tradition. Actually, this week’s talk was on “the law” aspect. Often there is a real struggle between “what we know to be true” and “what we want to be true.” No religion can protect us from the suffering of being human. But, there is “that something more” that true religion can offer to those willing to move beyond the ego’s need for security.
