Dear Folks -

This week the title of my talk was

“Rumors Of And About God”

Our understanding of whatever we mean by the word “God” shapes everything about us - whether we are aware of this or not. Our true identity is who we are in God. No more. No less. If this is so, what is our understanding of “God”?

If God is not up and out there somewhere, what can we say and know about God? What can be said about the unspeakable? What can be known about the unknowable? Building on the kind of “evidential and evolutionary faith” I spoke of last week, I begin this week some talks on this topic. In this one I share mostly what has been my own evolving “history with God” in the hopes it will be helpful to and for your own faith journey. The talk ends with a story I got from Niels Bohr, the physicist whose work is being so influential on theology. It is a story about a young rabbinical student who goes to hear three lectures. Each lecture is more wonderful than the one that preceded it. And, also more “not-understandable.”

That is a very brief summary or the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week.

You can read or download the text from which I spoke, view the presentation slides, listen to the audio of the talk and/or watch the video of the talk using the links below.

If you are reading this, I want you to know how grateful I am for and to you.

Be well and much love,

Bill Kerley
