Dear Folks -

There is a quote from Pierre Teilhard de Chardin that is not only his best know but also the most beautiful. It is this:

“Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, may will have discovered fire.”

How do we do that? Fire is a powerful symbol for both creative and destructive power.

I called the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week -

Living in a Sacred Crucible

and offered two examples, I called them striking matches, to see if they might open our eyes, hearts and hands to the process of being “near the fire.” The examples came from the issue of racism and the mass displacement of humans caused by war and violence.

That’s a brief summary of the talk I offered this week in Ordinary Life. You can read the text from which I spoke, view the presentations slides and listen to the audio version of the talk using the links below.

Be well and much love,

Bill Kerley
