ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life

Summary for June 10, 2018

Dear Folks -
There are three “announcement like” items I want to draw to your attention.
First, the talented young singers of the Washington National Cathedral will be presenting a concert this Wednesday evening at seven. Admission is free. This will be in the Sanctuary building on St. Paul’s campus.
Second, there is an Ordinary Life Happy Hour this Saturday. Details are on the Ordinary Life website.
Third, the Michael Dowd event is now open for registration. I know November seems like a long way off but I expect this event to “sell out.” The registration fee includes lunch. Child care is available at no cost. To register, click here.
As for this week’s talk: I called it -
“More Understanding, Less Fear”
Our culture is in the grip of fear. This is, in my opinion, largely due to the fact that we have powerful “shadow aspects” working at the collective unconscious level that do not allow us to behave like mature, loving, compassionate and just people. Though all wise and useful spirituality speaks of the importance of being “enlightened” and living “in the light,” we are mostly in the dark. In order to spend more time in freedom and less time “captured,” we will have to be willing to encounter these “shadow aspects” in order to be free of them.
That is a very brief summary or the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week.
You can read or download the text from which I spoke, view the presentation slides, listen to the audio of the talk and/or watch the video of the talk using the links below.
If you are reading this, I want you to know how grateful I am for and to you.
Be well and much love,
Bill Kerley
