Dear Folks -

I gave the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week this title -

Take My Hand. I Want You To See The View

In doing religious and spiritual work, we need to be relevant, to matter and - this in light of what I have been recently teaching - we need to know how to “do Jesus.” The message of the church to all people needs to consist of two primary things: you are loved and you are safe. However, spiritual work isn’t about finding security. Rather, it is about learning to live with insecurity in this world where both beautiful and horrible things happen. I am drawing my teachings from material found in what is referred to as “teachings of the desert fathers and mothers” and from the equally exciting world of “cosmology” as we are coming to learn of it. This talk ends with an experience I had many years ago when on a hike in the Grand Canyon, I had a panic attack and a young man came to my life-saving aid.

That is a very brief summary of the talk offered in Ordinary Life this week. This is another one of those talks where I personally think the audio version is better than the written one.

You can read or download the text from which I spoke, view the presentation slides, listen to the audio of the talk and/or watch the video of the talk using the links below.

If you are reading this, I want you to know how grateful I am for and to you.

Be well and much love,

Bill Kerley
