Dear Ones -
Two things I want to call your attention to -
First, St. Paul’s will celebrate its 117th anniversary this coming Sunday. There will be an amazing musical concert at 4 p.m. followed by a dinner. The dinner has sold out. There are no more available reservations. There is still plenty of seats available for the concert.
Second, please reserve the date of March 2nd when there will be a presentation by Dr. Susannah Heschel. The title is - “The Legacy of Joshua Abraham Heschel in Civil Rights: Out Work is Not Finished.” This event is being co-sponsored by St. Paul’s and Congregation Beth Yeshurun. The date is a Thursday evening and the time is 7 p.m. The program will be followed by a dessert reception. Save the date. Again, there is no charge for this program.
This week in Ordinary Life the talk was titled -
Finding Light in the Dark
We all love a good story. Stories cannot only inform and entertain us, then can also transform us. I offered stories from the Jewish, Islamic, Sufi, Zen, and Christian traditions - all about “awareness.” Awareness if the first essential step in our living in relationship to and with the treasure that we seek and which, at the same time and paradoxically, is seeking us. The transformation of consciousness is radical and fundamental to the spiritual journey into full humanness. Careful attention paid to anything is a doorway into Sacred Mystery.
That’s a brief summary of this week’s time in Ordinary Life.
